I received two emails from Sheplers a couple of weeks ago. They offered to send a return shipping label, which I did not take advantage of because of all the horror stories I read about trying to return something to them, plus the cost of return shipping. They also...
I discovered that Abilene boots are American made and affordably priced, two things that are not mutually exclusive. I went to Sheplers website and selected the brand I was interested in. The selections popped up and I picked out a pair I thought she might like,they were a floral design. They were listed as Rawhide by Abilene, and I assumed that the slightly cheaper price than the other Abilene boots was due to the composition sole.
Most boot companies have an entry level line. Lucchese, for example has the 1883, a little less expensive but still a Lucchese. When the boots arrived the color was much darker than expected. You couldn't see the design as well as in the pictures, but they looked pretty good.
The artificial sole looked dangerously hard and inflexible also. Looking inside the boot, past the cheap foam rubber lining, I searched for a made in U.S.A. label. Anything made in America will have a label stating that.
I thought that the country of origin had to be on products. There was no label, however, may wife pointed out that the side of the box said made in India. After more belated research I found out that Rawhide by Abilene did not mean made by Abilene but rather imported and distributed by Abilene.
This is to me, misrepresentation, and I put the blame not on Abilene but on Sheplers. They should value their customers enough to tell the whole truth in their product descriptions.

We are only interested in negative experiences and how you managed to triumph or fail despite the difficulties. There are happy Mary Sunshine sites for people tickled pink about their new widgets or whatever.

Last time i ever order from Shepplers!
Placed an order for boots and jeans on Black Friday. The boots I received were a half size too big so i filled out the form to exchange them.
I mailed them off. Waited three weeks. Finally got an email saying they refunded me my money, no explanation. I called and talked for about a half hour to a lady who eventually told me they didnt have them in stock anymore.
I looked at my email and seen they had refunded me $72.48, when i paid $82.48 for the boot??
I called again and told them the story. They said “they left a note” saying i was shorted $10. I asked when id get my refund. “Probably in a week or so.” Wow.
This company sucks. Do not try to exchange anything!
Now im out my $82 for over a month and all i wanted was an exchange. So much for that Christmas present.
